His Sanctity Pope Paul II

Baghdad, May 21st, 1981

Dear Sir,

The Iraqi Committee for Human Rights and Political Prisoners Defence cordially sends you the best wishes and congratulations for your escape of the assassination attempt.

We deny most sincerely this criminal thoughtless attempt and wish you long life and good health to lead the humanity to insure the justice and freedom to all nations suffering under their tyrant or communist rulers, who suppress their people in the name of proletarian dictatorship.

The criminals and tyrants in this world can be individuals, parties or governments, and as you can see, dear Sir, from the attached letters which our Committee sent to the leaders of the free world the entire Iraqi people are suffering from crimes which held by a criminal gang headed by Saddam Hussein Al-Tikriti. However, we ask and pray to our Lord God to give you a long life dear Sir, in order to enable you to eliminate the crimes of Satan and its followers in this poor world.

Assuring you of our best regards and prayers we remain.

Yours faithfully,

Merwan A Al-Mousa
